EBONY FASHION FAIR

Hiring an external PR agency, with the experience CalComm PR has, is cost-effective and succeeds in getting vast public media exposure. For example, the local organization that sponsors the Ebony Fashion Fair--the world's largest traveling fashion show-- worked on getting exposure for the show for many years using hardly any public relations, and only a small amount of advertising, resulting in two newspaper articles and empty seats at the show. Then they hired CalComm PR who infused new insights and news angles into the project. The agency also developed a new marketing strategy--a kick-off celebration in advance of the show. The kick-off was held at the Red Cat Jazz Cafe in downtown Houston . The event gave the local organization the opportunity to meet the community in person, give away tickets and prizes, and to establish a positive relationship with individuals who can influence the success of the show. CalComm PR got for the client exposure in the Houston Chronicle , spot coverage on News 24 Houston , every African-American newspaper in Houston, plus guest appearances on Fox 26 The Black Voice , “The Benny Boone Show” KRBE-FM , Power 97.5 Community Affairs with Guy Lambert , KTSU-FM and News 2 Houston Saturday Morning . Attendance at the 2002 and 2003 show increased 20 percent from previous years.
